Local coordinate system of an Fe-chain/Pt(664). The X-axis is along the chain and the Z-axis is parallel to the [001] direction. There are three types of Pt atoms nearest to the Fe atom; at the upper terrace, in the substrate bulk, and at the lower terrace, labeled Pt(I), Pt(II), and Pt(III), respectively. |
