Magnetic correlations in Ti-substituted Sr3(Ru1−xTix)2O7 have been studied by elastic and inelastic neutron-scattering techniques. Below transition temperatures of the order of 20 K, the samples with 7.5 and 10% of Ti content exhibit an incommensurate spin-density wave ordering with a propagation vector qic=(0.24,0.24,0), which does not reflect the dominant magnetic instabilities in pure Sr3Ru2O7. Strong inelastic correlations near qic were found to persist in Sr3(Ru1−xTix)2O7 far above the magnetic ordering; they become gapped in the ordered state.
