We theoretically study optical transmission through one-dimensional gratings formed by left-handed materials (LHM), using rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA) algorithm and finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulation. Resonant transmission of incident electromagnetic radiation could be found for both p and s polarizations. The resonance mechanisms are the coupled surface polaritons in the incident and output surfaces of the grating, and the waveguided modes inside the grating structure.
