Phys. Rev. B 72, 073311 (2005) [4 pages]Measuring the Kondo effect in the Aharonov-Bohm interferometerReceived 15 June 2005; published 29 August 2005 The conductance G of an Aharonov-Bohm interferometer (ABI), with a strongly correlated quantum dot on one arm, is expressed in terms of the dot Green function, Gdd, the magnetic flux ϕ and the noninteracting parameters of the ABI {Jμν}. At T=0, Fermi liquid theory yields the exact ϕ dependence of G. We show that one can extract Gdd from the observed G(ϕ), for both closed and open ABI’s. In the latter case, the phase shift β deduced from G≈A+B cos(ϕ+β) depends strongly on the {Jμν}’s, and usually β≠π∕2. The {Jμν}’s may also reduce the Kondo temperature. © 2005 The American Physical Society URL:
