We study decoherence of propagating spin-1∕2 excitations in generic (nonintegrable and∕or disordered) spin chains. We find that the corresponding decoherence times become shorter in both the near-critical and diffusive regimes, a fact which has important implications for the recently proposed spin chain-based implementations of quantum information processing where such excitations can be utilized in the capacity of “all-spin” flying qubits.
