Phys. Rev. B 70, 092407 (2004) [4 pages]Decoherence of one-dimensional flying qubits due to their cross-talk and imperfectionsReceived 1 July 2004; published 24 September 2004 We study decoherence of propagating spin-1∕2 excitations in generic (nonintegrable and∕or disordered) spin chains. We find that the corresponding decoherence times become shorter in both the near-critical and diffusive regimes, a fact which has important implications for the recently proposed spin chain-based implementations of quantum information processing where such excitations can be utilized in the capacity of “all-spin” flying qubits. © 2004 The American Physical Society URL:
