Phys. Rev. B 69, 054504 (2004) [6 pages]Phase coherence in the Josephson-coupled stack of planar spin-charge separated condensates and the interlayer mechanism of high-Tc superconductivityReceived 9 September 2003; revised 17 November 2003; published 18 February 2004 A system of spin-charge separated stack of two-dimensional condensates interacting via the interplane Josephson coupling EJ⊥ is studied in the “phase only” quantum rotor representation as a model of layered high-Tc cuprates. Using de Gennes mapping onto S=1 pseudospin model the phase diagram is computed as a function of EJ⊥ which exhibits an intricate interplay between charge (e) and pair (2e) condensation. Experimental implications of the model pertaining to the condensation energy Econd, the behavior of the ratio EJ⊥/Econd, and the flux quantization are discussed. © 2004 The American Physical Society URL:
