A system of spin-charge separated stack of two-dimensional condensates interacting via the interplane Josephson coupling EJ is studied in the “phase only” quantum rotor representation as a model of layered high-Tc cuprates. Using de Gennes mapping onto S=1 pseudospin model the phase diagram is computed as a function of EJ which exhibits an intricate interplay between charge (e) and pair (2e) condensation. Experimental implications of the model pertaining to the condensation energy Econd, the behavior of the ratio EJ/Econd, and the flux quantization are discussed.
