It is shown that at η=0 or η=1, i.e., a binary composite, the local-field distribution at resonances transfers from one form to another in the two-bond clusters, as well as in disordered composites. Numerical calculations also indicate that at the avoiding crossing region of dielectric resonances η∈(0,2), the effective optical responses are very sensitive to η due to the competition among eigenmodes. For η<0, the absorption peaks are blue-shifted with decreasing η, while, for η>2, the absorption peaks red-shifted with increasing η. Moreover, in a three-component square network, the relation between the summation of dielectric resonances and η is numerically proved: ∑i=1nsi=(n2/2)η+(n1/2) with the total impurity bonds n=n1+n2. © 2004 The American Physical Society URL:
