Phys. Rev. B 65, 193104 (2002) [4 pages]Electrical conductivity of lithium at megabar pressuresReceived 28 December 2001; published 23 April 2002 We report measurements of the electrical conductivity of a liquid alkali metal—lithium—at pressures up to 1.8 Mbar and fourfold compression, achieved through shock compression experiments. We find that the results are consistent with a departure of the electronic properties of lithium from the nearly free electron approximation at high pressures. © 2002 The American Physical Society URL:
