We have determined the characteristics of exchange bias in Co-Ni/FeMn bilayers with a fixed FeMn thickness of 150 Å but Co-Ni layer with different magnetizations by varying its composition. The exchange coupling energy Δσ=HEtFMMFM is not constant, but varies as c(MFM)1/2, due to the local magnetic field from the ferromagnetic layer that dictates the spin structure of the antiferromagnetic layer during field cooling.
