B 63, 104406 (2001) [4 pages]Dependence of exchange coupling on magnetization in Co-Ni/FeMn bilayersReceived 6 July 2000; published 13 February 2001 We have determined the characteristics of exchange bias in Co-Ni/FeMn bilayers with a fixed FeMn thickness of 150 Å but Co-Ni layer with different magnetizations by varying its composition. The exchange coupling energy Δσ=HEtFMMFM is not constant, but varies as c(MFM)1/2, due to the local magnetic field from the ferromagnetic layer that dictates the spin structure of the antiferromagnetic layer during field cooling. © 2001 The American Physical Society URL:
