Phys. Rev. B 61, 14791–14794 (2000)Depinning of interacting particles in random mediaReceived 24 November 1999; published in the issue dated 1 June 2000 We study the overdamped motion of interacting particles in a random medium using the model introduced by Pla and Nori [Phys. Rev. Lett. 67, 919 (1991)]. We investigate the associated depinning transition by numerical integration of the equation of motion and show evidence that the model is in the same universality class of a driven elastic chain on a rough substrate. We discuss the implications of these results for flux line motion in type-II superconductors. © 2000 The American Physical Society URL:
