Using the calculated electron energy-band structure of Tl2Ba2CuO6, we compute the dependence of the c-axis magnetoresistance on the orientation of the magnetic field for different magnitudes of the magnetic field. We explain the known experimental results for the in-plane rotation of the magnetic field and predict the shape of the magnetoresistance oscillations for the out-of-plane rotations of the magnetic field. We show how the latter oscillations can, in the limit of weak c-axis tunneling, be utilized to reconstruct the shape of the Fermi surface and to study the coherence of interplane electron tunneling.
