B 59, 13073–13079 (1999)Effect of the quasibound states on quantum transport in a ballistic electron waveguideReceived 9 December 1998; published in the issue dated 15 May 1999 Information about the spectral properties of ballistic electrons in an electron waveguide can be obtained from low-frequency conduction experiments or calculations. These spectral properties determine the response of the electrons to high-frequency external fields. We find that high-frequency fields can excite quasibound states of the waveguide and cause dramatic enhancement of power absorption by the ballistic electrons in the waveguide. © 1999 The American Physical Society URL:
