B 37, 4764–4765 (1988)K-shell electron binding energy of metallic Mg and CaReceived 6 October 1987; published in the issue dated 15 March 1988 Using total self-consistent-field (SCF) energy differences of small atomic clusters, simulating the metal environment, the ΔSCF 1s binding energy is calculated.
