In a recent paper with the above title, a new approach was developed to handle coupled nonlinear integral equations that appear in the calculation of physical quantities such as the dielectric function and the spin susceptibility of a many-electron system. An algebraic error in the calculation of the static long-wavelength limit is here corrected and, by incorporating further vertex corrections in the present calculation, the conclusions reached in the first paper concerning this limit are shown to remain essentially correct. Further, a diagrammatic representation of the new approach is developed and contact made with existing perturbation calculations.
